The Bloom Catalogue Raisonné Project

In 2015, a systematic effort was undertaken to document the complete body of work of Hyman Bloom (1913–2009). The project has grown into a comprehensive research database covering paintings and works on paper produced across Bloom’s seven-decade career.

Each record documents medium/support, dimensions, provenance, exhibition history, auction records, and publication references where known.

Research Access

The catalogue is a working scholarly resource, not yet a public database. Curators, art historians, and serious researchers with a professional interest in Bloom’s work are welcome to request access. Approved researchers gain access to the full catalogue.  Inquiries may be submitted through the contact form on this site.

MISSING PICTURES

There are a half-dozen Bloom paintings from the 1940s and 1950s that are now missing.  Additionally, about 30 major drawings from the 1950s and 1960s are currently not located.  Some of these paintings and drawings were exhibited shortly after their creation, but have not been seen in 60+ years.
